I'm a northern Minnesota girl so I am no stranger to the cold weather. There were times during the winter where we would have three weeks of -50 below wind chill. You can freeze water in an instant in that kind of weather.
When my husband and I married in 2007, I moved to central South Dakota. I always joked with my Minnesota family how I had moved "south" and that it was tropical here. To some degree I was right as the temperature difference from where I grew up to where I live now averages to be about 15 degrees warmer. We get to see spring earlier than my mom does!
Last year at this time I was moving snow from our drive way as Bruce (my husband) was laid up from surgery. It happened to be one of most snowy winters we have had since we've been together. I must have used that snowblower about every other day for all of March and into April. I didn't think it was ever going to quit snowing. The snow got so high that it was over the mailbox and I didn't know where I was going to put any more snow! (See the picture with my daughter's family and my cute little grandson. Just in case you thought I was making this stuff up.)
Fast forward to March 2020 and it has been in the high 30's and 40's for the past few days. A person in the midwest could really start to get spring fever if they aren't careful. However, I am holding my own as we've been known to get some pretty good snow storms in March and April.
Since we haven't had to battle the winter elements, we have been making some serious progress on our product offerings for 2020 Craft Season. Here are some of the garden decor pieces that are available on our website and will be traveling with us on the craft circut until they find their new homes.
Aren't these adorable? My husband does such a wonderful job at his craft. There are many more options including customizing your favorite sports team. Please visit our store www.chivillabay.com for more ideas and then Contact Us and we can work on your custom order.
In the meantime, let's hope Mother Nature is being kind to us with this nice weather and that we truly are on our way to an early spring here in South Dakota.
