Hit 250 fabric maks!

#makingadifference
Today was a milestone kind of day!  I made my 250th mask today!  #makingadifference

I want to thank all of my friends who donated elastic and donated funds. With all of your help we have sent masks to the local nursing homes, an assisted living facility, the local hospital, pharmacy crews, grocery clerks, and many elderly folks.

AND I'm not done yet! I'm waiting on more elastic and then plan to continue to make masks and donate to those in need. Again, thank you to all of you generous people for helping out.

May you all stay healthy! God Bless!

What's the weather like in South Dakota in March?

I'm a northern Minnesota girl so I am no stranger to the cold weather.  There were times during the winter where we would have three weeks of -50 below wind chill.  You can freeze water in an instant in that kind of weather.

When my husband and I married in 2007, I moved to central South Dakota.  I always joked with my Minnesota family how I had moved "south" and that it was tropical here.  To some degree I was right as the temperature difference from where I grew up to where I live now averages to be about 15 degrees warmer.  We get to see spring earlier than my mom does!

Last year at this time I was moving snow from our drive way as Bruce (my husband) was laid up from surgery.  It happened to be one of most snowy winters we have had since we've been together.  I must have used that snowblower about every other day for all of March and into April.  I didn't think it was ever going to quit snowing.  The snow got so high that it was over the mailbox and I didn't know where I was going to put any more snow!  (See the picture with my daughter's family and my cute little grandson. Just in case you thought I was making this stuff up.)

Fast forward to March 2020 and it has been in the high 30's and 40's for the past few days.  A person in the midwest could really start to get spring fever if they aren't careful.  However, I am holding my own as we've been known to get some pretty good snow storms in March and April.

Since we haven't had to battle the winter elements, we have been making some serious progress on our product offerings for 2020 Craft Season.  Here are some of the garden decor pieces that are available on our website and will be traveling with us on the craft circut until they find their new homes.

 Garden Landscape Post Welcome Frog

Aren't these adorable?  My husband does such a wonderful job at his craft.  There are many more options including customizing your favorite sports team.  Please visit our store www.chivillabay.com for more ideas and then Contact Us and we can work on your custom order.

In the meantime, let's hope Mother Nature is being kind to us with this nice weather and that we truly are on our way to an early spring here in South Dakota.

Sweet Summertime

Are you enjoying your summer?  We certainly are.  So much so that we are forgetting to update our blogs!

Here's a picture of the lake where we unwind from the daily grind:

As I am starting to think about all of the things I SHOULD be doing instead of playing around at the lake, I kind of feel guilty!  I know a cocktail or too will take care of that feeling!  Cheers!  Bottoms up!

I know when I decide to get back at it again, one of the first things we are going to do is have a flip flop sale!  Who doesn't like that!  So stay tuned, it's going to happen.  Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day soon, real soon!

Have a great day chillin'!

Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all the "Chivillians" out there!  Where are you going to be chillin' tonight with your special someone?  Who is your PURRRfect Match?

My hubby and I had plans to go out for a nice dinner as we haven't gone out on a date for quite sometime.  I'm not sure we are going to be able to have our date tonight as I started coming down with a head cold.  I'm afraid I might be a terrible date tonight when all I want to do is cuddle in on the couch with a nice soft blanket and some hot tea!!

I hope your plans for this evening are a little better than mine.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Rhonda

Change is coming...

On February 14, 2014 our website will be switching over to Paypal as the payment feature for all of our online transactions.  We feel this is a better option for us and for our customers given the recent data breaches by large companies that we all trusted.

We feel confident that PayPal and it's practices safeguard customers information and are up-to-date on security and internet fraud.

We hope that this will not affect your relationship with us but rather that you too will embrace Paypal and use them as a trusted source for safeguarding your personal and financial information.

Sincerely,

Rhonda May

A time for reflection...

At the end of every year as we reflect on our success and failures and we make "resolutions" for the coming year.  In business we do the same thing although in business they are referred to as budgets/ forecasts and goals.

After reflecting on our performance in the marketplace last year, we are focusing on what we feel we need to do in 2014.  Here's what I came up with:

1) Focus more on branding - Chivilla Bay, who are we, what do we stand for, what are we trying to do, what is our mission?

2) Sales - Evaluating our sales plan - are we in the right marketplaces, the right products, etc.?

3) Social Media (in the old days we called this advertising) - touching customers, reaching customers and gaining new customers.  How do we accomplish this?

4)  Budgets and Sales Forecasts  - Using data from previous years, cutting expenses on ventures that did not pay for themselves - such as certain e-commerce venues, advertising venues, etc.  Also, how do we grow our business.

5) Customer focused - interacting with our customers and using feedback to drive product mix, improve customer relations and loyalty and sales.

As we work through all of these I hope you will see a more consistent focus for us with our messages, products and commitment to becoming a company you grow to love and trust.
